Black Desert Mobile review and reception

Black Desert for mobile is the long awaited release that has a task of bringing the renowned Black Desert Online experience to an alternative platform. Its global release was hyped to a remarkable level since the first time it was announced back in 2017. Since then the game has reached an impressive fanbase even before it has seen the light of the day, and its popularity spiked even more when it was released only for select countries in Asia. Now that it is finally here, we’re going to take a closer look at it, and try to see whether all the pompous advertisement was actually worth it.

Stunning visuals and unprecedented graphics

From the very first moment of the game, including the character creation, you are thrown in the world of beautifully done models and state of the art graphics. It is clear that visuals are the strong suit of the game and the developers have made a point of emphasizing this over and over throughout the game, which isn’t really that bad since they’ve spent what could only be an enormous amount of time making the game look that way. The only downside of it is that this will quickly drain your battery, but at least you’ll enjoy every moment of playing Black Desert Mobile while you’re at it.

Starting the game and gameplay

First off you’ll need to choose the server you play on, and after you get to a class for your character. There are five classes to pick from, and each has a very unique and distinct playstyle. You can choose to play as Warrior, Ranger, Witch, Giant, or Valkyrie. Each of these classes has several unique abilities, and each class excels at some aspects of the game. Then comes one of the most detailed character creations, in which you have so many choices and options that you barely have any desire to actually go through any of it. Shortly after you’re done creating your character, the game will start, and you’ll be thrown into the magnificent world of Black Desert Mobile. The tutorial segment is fairly well done, and it will introduce you to some basic mechanics, and will gradually teach you how to play a game. Black Desert Mobile also has some neat and interesting features such as building your own camp, fighting World Bosses, even meeting and interacting with other players, playing together or even forming or joining a guild.

Is Black Desert for mobile really that great?

After the two years long wait for the game on the western market, fans have become practically starved and would swallow pretty much anything the Pearl Abyss would serve them. We are not saying that BD for mobile is not worthy per se, but rather we would question the amount of the hype it receives, and to which degree that hype exists because of the clever marketing as opposed to the quality of the game. In the end, all that really matters is the number of players the game draws in, and whatever the reason for its popularity we predict a bright future for Black Desert for mobile since it has already brought three times more revenue than its PC counterpart.
